A mountain is a large landform that rises much above the surrounding land. Tectonic forces and volcanism form them and they locally rise from the earth’s surface. Mountains slowly get eroded by rivers, weather conditions, and glaciers. On average, mountains are above 5000-6000 m above sea level.
