There are many places to visit and enjoy in Africa. People tend to think of Africa as a region, not a continent. However, with 54 countries calling it home, Africa’s topography, weather, and activities differ dramatically by area.

Imagine visiting these countries and enjoying the tropical weather, unique activities, and breathtaking landscapes. In this article, we will cover all these activities while we make a list of the same.

Guide What Countries To Visit In Africa?

In this article, we have highlighted the most famous countries and best places to visit in Africa. We also suggested what to see, what to do, when to go, and where to stay to make it easier for you to schedule a journey to Africa.

    1. Kenya And Tanzania

Sometimes, Kenya and Tanzania are a single ride. These two countries are considered by many to be among the best places to go in Africa. The Great Migration is spotted here, where 2 million wildebeests and zebra are spotted. Gazelles are also spotted forming a migratory circle from Masa Mara in Kenya to Serengeti in Tanzania.

Kenya and Tanzania have some of the most extensive wildlife populations in  Africa. Even if you don’t go during the migration, it’s not unusual to see 50 elephants in a herd or the Big Five on your first game drive (lion, rhino, cape buffalo, elephant, and leopard).

And, of course, Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the bucket-list hiking destinations in the entire world, is home to Tanzania.

According to Daniel Saperstein, stop for the lengthy April and May rains. It’s July through September if you’re going to catch the migration.

Where to Stay? Diani Paradise Villa

You should stay in Diani Paradise, Villas in Kenya. It is one of the cheapest places you can find. Natur surrounds it in every corner, and the beach is a few steps away from your door. You can also see wildlife roaming around you. In short, it is a place to enjoy nature, relax and unwind.

    2. Uganda:

The experience in Uganda is incredible, being one of only three countries in the world where you can trek to see mountain gorillas in the wild (there are only 1,000 mountain gorillas left in the world).

With its two silverbacks (adult males), Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda is home to the Nyakagezi gorilla family. It retains a certain allure because, in a troop, it has one of the highest concentrations of silverbacks. Tours are small, no more than eight individuals, and you have 60 minutes with them once the gorillas are spotted, and believe me, it goes very fast.

There’s a chance you’ll get rain anytime because it’s a rainforest, so there’s no wrong time to go. Only make sure to pack stuff appropriately.

    3. Zambia And Zimbabwe

FourCreeds says to travel to these two countries to see Victoria Falls, the world’s largest waterfall. Plus, you can go white water rafting down the Zambezi River, chock-full of crocs and hippos.

In addition, in wonderful national parks such as South Luangwa and the Lower Zambezi, Zambia focuses on excellent walking safaris. In addition to game drives and walks, you can do canoeing and fishing in the latter, says Daniel Saperstein of Hippo Creek Safari. Combining these two countries gives you a glimpse at both sides of Victoria Falls.

The peak season is their winter season, when it is dry and mild, perfect anywhere from June to September, says Saperstein. From October through January, it can be hot.

    4. Namibia

Some of the world’s highest dunes can be climbed in Namibia (or better yet, take a hot air balloon ride over them). The scenery is dramatic and vaults Namibia into the debate about one of Africa’s best places to go.

Don’t go to Namibia expecting to see a game, though. In Etosha, you may see some up north, but it’s all about complex landscapes, which are breathtaking,’ Saperstein explains.

Namibia is a year-round destination, but note that you can get a major change every day of the year, from very hot to very cold because it’s a desert climate. Pack both cold and warm-weather clothing.

    5. South Africa

South Africa blends a European and African environment, from shark cage diving and malaria-free safari zones to experiencing the flavors of Durban, an enclave of Indian culture in Africa that rests right on the Indian Ocean.

In South Africa, private game reserves abound, making it easier to see the Big Five species up close. You can also go on wine tours or climb up Table Mountain, one of the best places for a day trip in Africa, on your own.

For game-watching, almost any time of the year is suitable, but December through February sees the bulk of the rain, and the coldest months are May through July.

    6. Egypt

For good reason, visiting the pyramids and taking a cruise up the Nile River is a bucket list adventure. “The birthplace of Western civilization is Egypt. Claudia Worth, product manager of Abercrombie & Kent, says that few encounters will match up to the colossal size of the pyramids and the sphinx.

You may explore the Aswan Islands in Egypt or privately visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities by felucca (traditional sailboat), home to artifacts gathered from Tutankhamun’s tomb.” History lovers and others involved in a cultural experience appeal to this portion of Northern Africa.

Egypt is a year-round destination. However, in October and April, the temperatures are most comfortable, and the states are worth it.

    7. Botswana

High-end, low-impact tourism is the focus of this region, so the properties are all very luxurious, and the crowds you see in East Africa are noticeably absent here. It is where to go for up-close wildlife encounters in Africa, sans crowds.

Plus, with the Okavango Delta, the scenery is simply incredible, so you’ll be able to go out in mokoros (traditional dug-out canoes) instead of game drives by car, which gives you eye-level with the game. Nothing says safari like being a bathing elephant five feet away.

In the winter, from June through September, after the Okavango Delta floodwaters have begun to recede, the game-watching gets increasingly better. September is known as the peak season.

    8. Rwanda

Rwanda earned the name of the best country to visit in Africa. It is a perfect family getaway and honeymoon destination. Although, on the map of Africa, Rwanda looks small. Nature and wildlife are all around you in Rwanda.
