Amazing, I myself did not know that summer was the best time to visit Alaska. I thought of it as only winter. It is interesting how long the day is there too.
I am glad you find it helpful. Thanks for the visit
Actually I would have thought that summer is the best time to visit Alaska. Just like places as Iceland or Northern Norway. You get long days and it is not too cold. Also there are some flowers in bloom.
That is true. It is the same. I can imagine how people spend their long days. So much can be done.
I would love to visit Alaska in summer. I have a friend who visited in winter and whilst she saw the Northern lights, she was really cold. I would love to enjoy the pleasant temperatures of summer in the stunning nature that Alaska has to offer. I would like to go whale watching, as well as search for wildlife in Denali National Park.
Sounds like you have things planned. All you have left is to go there. Have a Safe journey.
I’ve been to Alaska several times. I always do this in the summer. I spent three weeks traveling in Alaska in August 2022. Summer is so good to visit, as there are the greatest activities choices: whale watching, bears watching, other wildlife viewings, and endless mountain hiking opportunities. One of my favorite places in Denali National Park, and I love the Matanuska Glacier and Mendenhall glacier you mentioned.
I am glad to see someone who has been to Alaska in the summer commenting on this article. That approves what I have written to be true. I am also glad that you like some of the destinations, too.
Undoubtedly, one of the most picturesque places on earth is Alaska. Seeing glaciers is my favorite of the five incredible things to do here. Traveling to Alaska for a vacation looks like a really excellent choice because of the state’s profusion of animals, beautiful aesthetic surroundings, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities. Thanks for sharing this; I’ll take it into account for my future manual.
I am glad that you agree with this article as far as the beauty of Alaska. and it is an excellent choice. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
Oh wow! I never really thought about the daylight in Alaska. Interesting! We were there in May, and it was still a bit chilly (and a little rainy), so summer would probably have been better.
I can agree summer would be a better choice to visit. Thanks for the visit
I have never thought about visiting Alaska during summer but yes, it sounds like a great idea. I had no idea that it’s better to see the glaciers during summer. Thank you for sharing this and appreciate all the tips.
You are welcome, I am happy to help.
We definitely planned our first visit to Alaska in the summer. We did find the weather manageable – if wet. But we were a bit disappointed that it did not look as snowy as we imagined it might. Good to know that the glaciers are harder to see in the winter. Our first visit was by cruise ship. Next time we want to do a land trip and explore all that Denali has to offer.
I am glad to find someone that has been there commenting on their experience, and I am glad you found it helpful.
As someone who loves hiking through national parks, visiting Denali National Parks seems to be the best thing for me to do. I’d love to stay in the cabins and see some grizzly, moose etc. My daughter loves waterfalls, so we won’t miss Pitchfork falls for sure.
Sounds like a good plan. Denali National Parks offer endless trails that are waiting to be discovered. I am sure. You would both enjoy your visit there.
This is a great post, I never would have thought about so many things to do in alaska during summer. I was planning to hike Denali and it’s great to know there are more things I can add into my plans whilst heading that way.
I am glad you find the post helpful and found some places from this post to add to your itinerary.
