I also like to read a lot but from your list, I’ve only read about the Alchemist. Good suggestions though 🙂
Sad that I’ve only read one of these books and have so many others to read from your fantastic list of travel inspired journeys. I haven’t been to Africa yet so The Last train to Zona Verde and Dark Star Safari both look intriguing and a good start to getting an insight to experiencing the gems of Africa.
That’s one awesome list of books to read on travel. I normally travel by train, so yes, I do need something to keep my company and these books are perfect. I like how it is a mix of fiction & non-fiction. 50 states 5000 ideas sounds like a perfect gift for my friend who has just moved to the USA. Into the Wild sounds interesting. Thanks for the Youtube, I’m gonna watch the movie too first, before getting the book.
From this list I have only read the Alchemist, a long time ago. I didn’t read Into the wild, but I did see the movie. Thank’s for these suggestions, you have me some nice ideas for what to read next. I think that I would love to read Dark Star Safari next. I have been fascinated with Africa ever since I travelled to Tanzania for the first time and, with going to Cairo this year, I love it even more.
I have read a couple of books of your list: “On the road” by Jack Kerouac and “The alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. From the post I am specially interesting on reading “The last train to Zona Verde” and “Dark Star Safari” from Paul Theroux. I spend 10 months in Africa last year and I am planning to go back in a couple of months, so I am trying to read as much as I can about the continent to get inspiration. I will bookmark your post.
This is a great compilation. All very unique suggestions and interesting summaries. Alchemist is an all time favorite, but there are some you mention that I hadn’t heard about at all, thanks for the suggestions. I hope to get my hands on ‘On the road’ and for inspiration I’d pick the travel influencer one and for some soulful reading the ‘unlikely destinations’.
I quite enjoy reading travel books, especially about the destinations that I happen to be travelling to. I really enjoy when a fictional story becomes one of the characters and I either get to see it one day or it serves as a great memory. I’ve read a couple of books on your list: “On the road” by Jack Kerouac and “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho.
This is helpful and timely. I am actually looking for a gift for my bestfriend and I am considering of getting her a travel book. Thank you for sharing the list. I find Love With The Chance Of Drowning, By Torre DeRoche very interesting. Will definitely consider this.
This is a great list of travel books. I Haven’t read a lot of travel books. But I loved The Alchemist. I remember finishing it in two days. I would love to bookmark this post. I will read the rest of the books in the coming days.
Many interesting books to read. I have not read any of the books mentioned. However, I heard about the alchemist and pretty sure a lot can related to his story.
