We definitely have plans to spend more time in South America. So your list of places to visit in the Andes Mountain Range was a a great one to start our itinerary. Every single one of the spots you selected sound unique in its own right. We saw a bit of Chile on our last visit to South America but sadly the pandemic cut short our trip and we missed both Peru and Bolivia. They are pretty high on our travel wish list.
I know, right. South America is unique, especially for those who adore nature and sandy beaches. I have had plans of my own that got postponed due to Covid-19 as well. I hope you continue your journey anytime soon.
We have planned to travel to Peru for the last years and then postponed again and again. South America is quite far from Europe and flight prices are skyrocketing right now. But we might go next year. Great list of places to visit in the Andes.
I am glad you found it helpful. I hope you go to your trip to South America very soon.

The Andes mountain range is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places with jaw dropping landscapes crossing 7 countries. I would love to explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas ruins aboard Ollantaytambo train, the colorful lakes and salt flats of Salar De Uyuni. The floating islands of Lake Titicaca with the traditional boats and hits are spectacular and I can imagine what an amazing experience it would be boating across the highest lakes of the world. And of course I would love to visit Machu Picchu go kayaking in Chilean fjords.
Machu Picchu has long been on my bucket list, and a trip there combined with further exploration of the Andes would be my dream trip! I love the idea of visiting the floating islands around Titicaca Lake. Soaking it up in the hot springs at the Chilean Lake District would be an amazing experience, too. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead when I finally do get to Machu Picchu! It’s such a beautiful (and expansive!) region.
I know, right. Machu Picchu is one of the seven wonders of the world. It would great place to visit. i tried to mention the nearby places, so you can visit along the way. I am glad you found it helpful.
Machu Picchu has for quite some time been on my list of must-dos, and an outing there joined with the additional investigation of the Andes would be my fantasy trip! I want to visit the drifting islands around Titicaca Lake. Absorbing it in the natural aquifers at the Chilean Lake Area would be an astounding encounter, as well. I’ve been energized for the open doors ahead when I, at last, get to Machu Picchu! It’s such a delightful (and broad!) locale.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t realize that the Andes Mountain range crosses 7 countries. How incredible, and vast it would be to visit at any of the entry points of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru or Venezuela. I see why you said get your camera ready as it is an incredible landscape.
We learn something every day. You should not be embarrassed by it. We all have a part which we lack knowledge about. For sure, it fascinates visitors from all over the world.
I had never heard of the Andes Mountain Range and had no idea there were gorgeous locations to explore there. The scenery in Peru’s Sacred Valley is really breathtaking! I’m curious about visiting the floating islands in Lake Titicaca. The Chilean Lake District is where I’m most drawn to. It offers enjoyable activities like relaxing in a volcanic hot spring and horseback riding, which I appreciate, in addition to having infinite trails and a brilliant blue lake.
You can actually enjoy horseback riding at any part of the Andes Moutain Range, but the Chilean Lake District is one of the best locations where you can enjoy it. Yes, Lake Titicaca is fascinating, I think it should be one of the seven wonders of the world.
I am lucky to have visited three of these four places. The Andes are pretty special and different in each country. I would highly suggest the drive from Santiago in Chile to Mendoza in Argentina, which crosses the Andes. It’s spectacular, especially just before the border, when a series of hairpins climb up the mountain to cross from one country to another. The Inca Valley in Peru is so special as well, with many beautiful villages dotted along the river. The most beautiful, in my opinion, is Pisac.
Thank you for the suggestions. I will do some research, and see if I can include them in the blog.
Wow! These places are fascinating. I would love to visit and explore the Chilean Lake and Hot Spring. The view is wonderful. Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos.
You are welcome. I appreciate your visit.
